our story

After four and a half years, our time as Portico Church has come to a close.

I remember well the first meeting we had for Portico...before it was even named. We spent months preparing to begin a church that embraced a different paradigm for what it meant to be the church and live in the ways of Jesus.

Some things went well, others didn’t. There were successes and failures, times of growth and times of struggle. There were tears and laughter, fun, friendship, and memories that will be with us for a long time.

As time went on it became more apparent that the movement and growth needed to sustain the mission of Portico wasn’t happening. Over the past few months, we saw the season of Portico coming to a close and the final chapter was written on Sunday, May 30, 2010.

We truly believe God was deeply honored in this labor of love. While it may seem strange that things have come to a close with questions still unanswered, and a “harvest that is still plentiful” we are confident God is still in control. He is still at work. And He will still use all of us. To God alone be the glory.

Though the story of Portico has ended, the story of God has not. We all look with anticipation to how God will continue to redeem and transform humanity and the world around us. We know that he will continue to use all of us as his hands, feet and voice.

May you continue to follow Jesus. May we be continually shaped by the gospel, live in gospel community and be on mission as sent ones with our God.

With much faith, hope and love...
